too long of a status update

i was running some errands just now and i had a lot of things on my mind that i thought would be a good FB status. but then i kept thinking of more random things so i decided it more worthy of a blog post.

i miss shopping for my honeymoon

i love the library

keith urban's songs are romantic and put me in a good mood

everyone who commented on my status who wants to hang out DOESN'T LIVE WHERE I LIVE...how sad

wednesdays are going to be long days this semester

i thought of another new years resolution: i'm going to make a wedding and honeymoon scrapbook...a real scrapbook!

photos

i love pictures/photography! i always have loved capturing memories starting with my throw away cameras then i got my first kodak 4 mpg digital camera my senior year of high school and now with my sony cyber shot.
i spend hours looking at other photographers blogs. i love seeing different "eye" of each photographer as well as their own different editing styles. i wish i was better at taking pictures. my excuse is that i need a good camera. it's something that i've always wanted to learn. in high school, i thought that's what i would go to school for, but i didn't end up doing it. maybe one day i can take some classes.
i have been married for almost 8 months, which technically is almost a year when you are rounding. i LOVED taking engagement pictures. i LOVED taking our wedding pictures. so now i'm trying to find an excuse to be able to take more (not that i really have an apartment big enough right now to fill with that many pictures). from looking at photographers websites, this is the sequence of pictures you take: engagements, wedding, new baby. (by the way, this is NOT a baby announcement!) obviously since a baby isn't coming anytime soon, or we aren't planning on it, i'm going to have to think of another reason. i kind of want to put on my wedding dress again and take some fun wedding pictures and then take some other "normal ones as well". who knows if or when that will happen. maybe for our 1 year anniversary.
maybe by the time we do have a baby i will be a more skilled "picture taker" (i don't think i would still call myself a photographer)

anywhoo...the idea is, i love pictures. i love having my picture made (by professionals). i love taking pictures. i love memories. (one of my favorite things is to let my screen saver on my computer go for hours just to look at old pictures)

2009 in a list

i love having a blog so that i can look back on past posts to take a trip down memory lane. so for now, i'm going to make a list of things that happened in my life in 2009. it was kind of a big year for me, a year or new things.

in chronological order (as best i can)

1. began my last semester of college
2. did my student teaching in a 4th grade lower socio-economic (challenging) classroom as well as a 7th grade Math class.
3. graduated from college
4. watched my husband graduate
5. MARRIED MY BEST FRIEND
6. went on my honeymoon on a cruise (1st time on a c cruise AND 1st time to see the ocean)
7. finally cut my hair that i had been growing out for my wedding
8. moved to denton and into an apartment with a boy:)
9. began nannying for a family in grapevine
10. stopped nannying and began working at a friend of my in-law's law firm
11. applied applied applied applied for teaching jobs
12. began a long term sub job in Friona, TX (my home town, 6 hours away from my husband for 4 weeks)
13. experienced first thanksgiving as a married couple and spent it with landon's family
14. went home for christmas to be with my family

14 seems like an odd number to end on (actually it's even) but that's 2009 in a list, the major and the minor things that happened in my life this year. looking forward to another year full of adventures!

Woman

a friend posted this on her blog a while back and i loved it...maybe it's not too soon after her to post it on mine. Every GUY & GIRL needs to read this!

You are a girl that is captivating. Intriguing. And most importantly, significant, important, and extremely valuable. You matter. You should be cared for. You are loved, and you need attention. You are just as equal as men. You live for compliments of your beauty and loveliness. You need to hear that you are wonderful. That you are needed. That love in real life is not just a significant figment of your imagination. That someone in this vast world cares about you enough to make sure you are okay. That you are fed, cared for, and most importantly loved. You must be captivated. Unless this happens, you are forced to live in a lost world, a fake world of people demanding your attention, time, and always taking from you. The cruel world that never gives to you, but instead of teaching you, forces you to be someone that you most certainly are not. You need recognition for what you do, but more importantly, who you are. You are not a number, not a person on the street to be taken in, not someone who needs to be held by the hand. You are an independent woman who still needs to feel human love. You need space, you need romance, and you need confidence, because no matter what, you are still your own person. You are a woman.

new years resolution

i've decided on one of my new years resolutions, but i can tell that there are others brewing in my mind. but for starters....

1. 2010 is going to be a year of trying new things.

sounds general, which i like, because it can be applied to the smallest things as well as bigger things. i get stuck doing the same things over and over again, so i'm going to try to mix it up a little bit. something small that i have always admired about my dad is that when we go to a restaurant, he most always tries something new/different. for me, i would rather just order the same thing every time because i know i will like it. this seems small, but if i can apply it to more than just what i eat at a restaurant, my life might be a little more interesting:)

a couple "new things" i have tried so far this year:

1. caramel macchiato from starbucks (new favorite drink)
2. camping in the cold
3. fried rice from pei wei (not as good as japanese teriyaki chicken)

i'd say i'm doing pretty good for it only being the 3rd day of the year!!

2010

christmas was wonderful with my family, but now it's over. it's nice to get back into the swing of things again. a new year begins today. i've always wanted to make "new years resolutions" but in the back of my mind i have thought they were kind of stupid. this year, i'm going to make some. i haven't yet, but i will in the next few days. better late than never!
